Kalimeris incisa 'Blue Star'

Aster or Japanese aster

Product Image
Masses of pale, mauve-blue Aster daisies, each up to 5cm across, appear on these compact and mildew-resistant aster like plants.

Plant Kalimeris incisa 'Blue Star' in clumps, or more informal drifts throughout the front of the border and they will give you a good couple of months of colour. Team them with pinks or softer shades of purple as well as silver.

How to care for Kalimeris incisa Blue Star:

Grow in part shade or dappled sunlight for best results. This woodland-type aster prefers well-drained soil that doesn’t need to be overly rich, but benefits from added leaf mould or compost in poor soils. Space around 45cm (18in) apart to allow for airflow. It’s naturally bushy and typically doesn't need support or pinching.

Remove spent flowers to encourage tidiness and a longer display. Leave top growth over winter for habitat value and cut back in early spring. A light mulch of compost or leaf mould in spring will help retain moisture.
