Crocosmia 'Prince of Orange'

montbretia bulbs

Product Image
Enjoy the heat of summer with a look of molten lava! ‘Prince of Orange’ will have your borders and pots ablaze with its vivid orange flowers and prominent yellow stamens, which emerge from a yellow throat with a ring of red dots. A low maintenance perennial, the sword-like foliage adds interest by turning from green in summer to a burnt coppery-orange in the autumn. This Crocosmia is a confident late summer performer for those seeking hot colour well into September and beyond.

How to care for Crocosmia Prince of Orange:

Potted plants can be planted any time of year, avoiding water-saturated and frozen soil. Mix in some well-rotted compost with the excavated soil and firm around the plant and provide a thick layer of mulch (well-rotted compost) as winter protection for the roots.

In autumn, resist removing the faded foliage, and cover the crown of the plant with bracken or bark chips to protect the plant against frost damage.

Once established, lift and divide congested clumps in spring, planting the divided sections 8-10cm (3-4in) deep.
