When they first emerge in spring, the fronds of this unusual new variety are an eye-catching golden orange, but as they mature and develop a spreading habit, their colour changes to light green. Discovered by Bob Hollister at Country Garden Plants near the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, this award-winning fern will liven up a shady border - and can also be potted for the patio.
How to care for Dryopteris wallichiana Jurassic Gold ('Hollasic') (PBR):
Incorporate lots of well rotted leaf mould, composted pine needles of garden compost into the planting hole. Cut back dead fronds in winter.
