A captivating deciduous climber, blooming from summer into early autumn with uniquely wavy-margined flowers that transition from reddish-purple to a mesmerising purple-blue hue as they mature. Renowned for its exceptional flowering habit, 'Amethyst Beauty' starts its prolific blooming at a modest height of 50cm (20in) and continues to adorn itself with flowers until it reaches its full height of 2m (6 ft). Its slender growth near the base and captivating flowering height make it an ideal companion plant, perfect for container gardening or intertwining with roses or shrubs on archways or pergolas.

How to care for Clematis Amethyst Beauty ('Evipo043') (PBR):

To avoid dry conditions, and to ensure good soil contact around the rootball, we advise planting climbers at least 30cm (12in), and preferably 45-60cm (18-24in) away from the base of a wall or fence. An even larger distance should be maintained when planting climbers beside an existing tree or shrub.

Clematis are happiest when their roots are kept cool and moist, so try to plant them where that the base of the plants will be lightly shaded by other, lower-growing species. Otherwise, use a clematis root protector, or top-dress the rootball (avoiding the immediate crown), with a generous layer of shingle or pebbles. In early spring cut back the previous year's stems to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground-level and apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the plant - again avoiding the immediate crown.
