Wooden wormery
Turbo charge your composting efforts by enlisting a little help! Our wooden wormery is a fascinating miniature ecosystem, producing nutrient-rich compost and liquid feed you can use all over the garden and in your pots.
Vermicomposting is a speedy alternative to traditional composting and a great way to get kids involved in the garden. Worms break down organic waste remarkably quickly and can eat their own body weight each day.
Throw in uncooked fruit and vegetable scraps, small amounts of green waste, kitchen roll, scrap paper, egg cartons, etc. Worms will happily munch away, converting them to fertile worm casting compost in a matter of weeks. Liquid ‘worm tea’ will drain to the bottom of the wormery, which you can dilute 50/50 with water and use as a plant feed.
A colony will double in size every three months, so you’ll always have a good population to process your waste. The composter includes all the equipment you need to get started, including trays, root cloth and a coconut fibre mat. Just add worms!
