Perlite is a naturally occuring volcanic mineral, heat-expanded into light, airy granules which are ideal for opening up the structure of compost and improving growing conditions. Ideal if you're growing in containers or working with heavier soils.
Mixed into compost, it creates small air pockets that let roots breathe more easily. Particularly helpful for seedlings, cuttings and plants like succulents and orchids that prefer free-draining conditions.
How to use:
Mix one part perlite with three parts compost for general potting. Increase to 50% for succulents, orchids and other plants needing a very free-draining mix. Also suitable as a clean, soilless medium for hydroponic growing.
Store in a dry place. Keep out of reach of children.
