Beautiful ‘Blue Pepe’, can be used as baby leaf or as a salad garnish. Both the bright red flowers and neatly formed glaucous leaves are edible with a delightful, peppery taste. Understandably, this is a highly popular variety and and easy to grow.

How to care for Tropaeolum majus Blue Pepe:

Requires minimal maintenance though a check for caterpillars and blackfly will help reduce incidence of defoliation. Dead-heading regularly will also encourage an even better display.

Sowing instructions:

Sow indoors from February to August into pots or trays filled with seed compost, lightly covering with a little extra sieved compost. Germination takes 10-12 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into multi-purpose compost. Plant out once acclimatised and risk of frost has passed. Sow outdoors from March to May. Sow thinly 20mm deep into prepared seed bed. Cover seed with soil and then water. Frost protection may be required for early sowings.
