Forming a dense evergreen column, this stately yew makes a handsome, stand-alone specimen, but it also looks spectacular when used to line a path or driveway.

Taxus baccata 'David' is invaluable for adding structure and formality to borders or pots - and can even be used for hedging. The upright stems are clothed in gold-edged foliage, and this adds colour throughout the year, but it looks particularly luminous during the winter.

How to care for Taxus baccata David:

Yew thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, acidic soil. Plant in a hole twice the size of the root ball, amended with organic matter. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, and fertilise annually with a balanced granular feed.

Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in late summer. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
