shallot 'Biztro' (PBR)

shallot sets (syn. Bistro)

Product Image
Producing uniformly rounded, brown-skinned and pink-fleshed shallots relatively early in the season, 'Biztro' also shows a good resistancee to disease, which makes it a great all-rounder.

Sets are the easiest way to grow shallots in the garden, and they will mature faster than those grown from seed. Plant very early in the season, in mid-February if possible, in a sunny position, and allow room for the shallots to splay out and produce clusters of bulbs.

How to care for shallot Biztro (PBR):

Plant shallot sets in fertile, well-drained soil from September to February, spacing them 15cm (6in) apart in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Keep the soil lightly weeded and watered while the plants establish to encourage strong growth. Lift the shallots when the tops begin to yellow and the bulbs are mature, usually around 24-26?weeks, then allow them to dry thoroughly before using or storing.
