Clumps of pointed, silvery foliage are accompanied by small clusters of larger than average, violet-blue flowers in spring. Slowly spreading to form naturalised drifts, Pulmonaria 'Diana Clare' is a semi-evergreen, highly ornamental cultivated variety, which provides valauble ground-cover in a partially shaded spot.
It thrives in moist, humus-rich soil, copes well with partial shade, and is a valuable early nectar source for bees.
How to care for Pulmonaria Diana Clare:
Plant Pulmonaria in moist, humus-rich soil in partial to full shade, setting the rootball level with the soil surface and watering well to settle it in. Keep the soil consistently damp through the growing season, especially in dry spells, and add a mulch of compost in spring to help the plant hold moisture and stay vigorous.
After flowering, tidy the plant by removing tired leaves to encourage a flush of fresh growth, and lift and divide congested clumps every three to five years to keep them healthy. If mildew appears, cut affected foliage right back to the base, then water and feed; new leaves will grow cleanly later in the season.
