Create your own stunning wildflower meadow with the Poppy Field Collection of Annuals—a vibrant mix of crimson poppies, bold cornflowers, and delicate corncockle that will bring your garden to life with colour and pollinators all summer long.

One packet containing 1g of seeds will cover approximately 1m².

How to care for Poppy field collection of annuals:

Rake the soil well to form a fine tilth and then sow seeds, scattering them evenly before raking them in and firming down. Wildflowers prefer poor soils so avoid using fertilisers. Keep them well watered initially and remove any weeds if they appear.

After they have finished flowering, do not cut the old plants back until they have scattered their seed as this may result in another crop of flowers in the following year.

What's included:

The collection contains one packet of seeds for each of the plants listed below. They will all come with their own specific sowing instructions.

  • Corncockle (Agrostemma githago): An annual plant, it is becoming increasingly popular however as an ornamental, and is sought after for wildflower meadows, garden borders or patio pots. It’s grown for its white-eyed magenta-pink flowers, which appear in summer attracting lots of beneficial insects including bees. Grows to 60cm.

  • Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus>: Piercing, bright blue flowers with ruffled petals and violet-blue centres appear from early to late summer among lance-shaped, mid-green leaves. Once a common sight in cornfields, this lovely annual is perfect for naturalising in a sunny wildflower meadow and is a magnet for butterflies and bees. Grows to 70cm.

  • Poppy (Papaver rhoeas): A much-loved annual wildflower, which has also become a symbol of remembrance. It looks spectacular when colonising cornfields or giant swathes of newly ploughed pastures and the vibrant red flowers are loved by bees. Grows to 90cm.
