This dwarf herbaceous catmint makes a great, low growing and low maintenance walkway or front of border ‘spillover’ plant. The tidy, grey-green aromatic foliage is barely seen during the summer when ‘Cat’s Pajamas’ is clothed in indigo flowers followed by pinky-purple calyces from tip to toe. If you suffer from deer or rabbits (my sympathies!) then have no fear, this minty-scented, drought tolerant plant will deter the varmints, though conversely, the plant may have some beneficial impacts for your feline friends too.
How to care for Nepeta Cat's Pajamas:
If cut back after the initial flowers have faded, this nepeta will usually go on to produce more. Lift and divide large clumps in spring, replanting divided specimens with lots of well-rotted organic matter. If powdery mildew becomes a problem prune out the affected areas.
