Each dark green stem of ‘Sailboat’ can carry up to three sweetly scented flowers, so when planted en masse, these jonquils provide a sea of bright blooms with a sweet fragrance. They have creamy-white, windswept petals and a pale lemon cup which fades to cream as it matures. Plant plenty so you have so you have some for cutting too.
How to care for Narcissus Sailboat:
Wearing gloves plant bulbs 10-15cm (4-6in) deep and 10cm (4in) apart in autumn. After flowering feed with a balanced fertiliser, deadhead the flowers, but do not be tempted to cut back or tidy the foliage after flowering as this will interfere with the bulbs’ ability to store energy for the following year's flowers.
