Grow your own King Oyster Mushrooms with our indoor, ready to grow, large 'no frills' kit. Our kits give you all you need to grow and harvest your own crop of edible fungi within around 21 days of opening. Perfect as gifts for cooks and curious fungi enthusuasts!
This kit will need to be chilled in a fridge when you receive it, if you are not intending to grow straight away. Your kit will be fine out of the fridge for a day or two if gifting or while in transit.
Our King Oyster Mushroom Kit is a great introduction to growing this incredible mushroom and are easy to grow. They have a classic mushroom flavour and are brilliantly versatile in all areas of cooking.
Keep your kit in a light and airy spot where you’ll remember to mist it a couple of times per day and watch it grow. These mushrooms don’t need to be grown in the dark – kept indoors, in a kitchen is the perfect environment – giving them the right light and temperature to thrive.
Expect to harvest at least 200-250g. These are culinary mushrooms and have no known hallucinogenic properties.
For best results, your kit will need to be opened within 3 days of receipt. Alternatively, they can be stored in the fridge but must be used within one month. A full set of instructions can be found inside your kit bag. All paper and card can be recycled with your standard card recycling. The plastic bag can be cleaned and recycled with your soft plastic recycling.

How to care for King oyster mushrooms:
You can store your King Oyster Mushroom kit in the fridge should you need to wait to grow, but open within one month. Ideal growing temperature parameters are 17-22°C (62-72°F). Lower temperatures can lead to slower growth and higher temps can lead to the substrate and mushrooms drying out, if not sufficiently watered during the day and growing period.
Open your kits following the instructions with clean scissors. Do not carve, dig or scratch into substrate surface, and do not remove or peel back the opening of the grow bag. This opening will allow enough air and water into the substrate to initiate fruiting.
Place your kit in a light position and out of direct sunlight (they don’t need to be grown in the dark). Mist the opening of your kit at least twice a day with water. You can expect to see the primordia of your mushrooms forming within 14 days. Continue to water your mushrooms once they begin to form and until you harvest them, give a light misting twice a day during the growing phase.
Harvest your mushrooms once the largest in the flush begin to flatten out at the edge of the mushroom and before they begin to dry out. Remove all mushrooms at once, the smaller mushrooms will not continue to grow once some have been harvested.
Do not plant out in the garden after use, or compost in the garden, as this may negatively impact the environment.
