The warmth of this peachy-orange to vermillion red box of precious trinkets reaches the depths of late summer to early autumn with its flowery gems and is set off by the stunning dark, bronze foliage of 'Waltzing Mathilda'.
How to care for Jewel garden dahlia collection:
Dahlia tubers can be planted outside after frost, or started off in pots under glass in late winter to early spring. Plant them horizontally approximately 12cm (5in) deep, making sure the ‘eyes’ are uppermost. Allow enough room between each tuber so the plants can grow and spread to their full size without being overcrowded.
While in growth, provide a high-nitrogen liquid feed each week in June, then a high-potash fertiliser each week from July to September. Stake with canes or brushwood if it becomes necessary. In mild areas, leave them in situ over winter, but protect the crown with a generous layer of dry mulch.
In colder areas, carefully lift and clean the tubers once the first frosts have blackened the foliage and allow them to dry naturally indoors. Then place the dry tubers in a shallow tray, just covered with slightly moist potting compost, sand or vermiculite and store in a frost-free place until planting out again.

Dahlia 'Waltzing Mathilda': The colouring of this gorgeous dahlia is hard to describe. The flowers are a peachy-orange with a red flush - like a really spectacular sunset, and the foliage is dark and brooding, so creates an impressive backdrop. A late summer treat for the herbaceous border, or a good-sized pot. Grows to 1.4m.
Dahlia 'Kelsey Annie Joy': Bringing a tropical flair to gardens with its uniquely colourful blooms, which showcase peachy-coral petals blushed with pineapple yellow, and centred by a ruffled glowing pink crown. Each bicolour collarette bloom is distinct, repeating prolifically from summer into autumn, and the long-lasting flowers make fantastic cut flower displays, bunching together for vibrant summer posies. Grows to 75cm.
Dahlia 'All Directions': Chosen for its impressive 10cm wide flowerheads, which open from bud a sumptuous shade of red, but then fade to warm vermilion as the season progresses. Its flaming colour really stood out in the trial beds - particularly when set against the backdrop of rich green foliage. Grows to 1.2m.
