Iris 'Red Ember'

Dutch iris bulbs (syn. Iris hollandica)

Product Image
The incredible colouring of this beautiful Dutch iris is a rich blend of red, brown and purple tones. Perfect for a bruised border, or for adding a bit of oomph to softer colours. Iris 'Red Ember' looks wonderful when planted in drifts through the border, or when allowed to form larger clumps in naturalised planting schemes. The flowers will last well after being cut too.

How to care for Iris Red Ember:

Plant Iris hollandica bulbs around 10cm (4in) deep and 10cm (4in) apart in September or October, choosing a sunny, well-drained spot where they won’t sit in frequent wet soil conditions.

Set them out in loose, naturalistic drifts rather than straight lines for a softer look, and once planted, leave them undisturbed so they can settle and bulk up; they prefer relatively dry conditions over winter and benefit from a light mulch only if your soil is very free-draining.
