Sporting long, narrow leaves with intensely wavy margins, this unique shade-loving perennial creates a captivating display in gardens and containers alike. The foliage of Hosta 'Silly String' emerges in spring with a striking blue hue, gradually transitioning to a blue-green as the season progresses.

Its ruffled leaves form a neatly tangled, cascading mound, offering an eye-catching texture in shaded areas, and come summer, pale purple flowers rise above the foliage. Thriving in urban environments and tolerant of pollution, this hosta cultivar excels as a front-of-border plant or as cover for fading bulb foliage.

With its excellent growth rate and distinctive form, 'Silly String' brings a playful touch to shade gardens while maintaining the hardiness and versatility characteristic of the genus.

How to care for Hosta Silly String (PBR):

Hostas thrive in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter, ideally with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. While they can tolerate partial shade, dappled sunlight is optimal for maintaining vibrant, healthy foliage. To ensure optimal growth, water your hostas regularly, especially during dry periods. A thick layer of mulch applied in spring or autumn will help retain moisture, suppress weeds and enrich the soil.

Slugs and snails love hostas, so you will need to protect against them. Additionally, elevating your hostas in pots with gravel-topped soil can deter these pests.

To prevent the spread of diseases, clean up any fallen leaves and debris in late autumn. This simple practice can significantly reduce the risk of fungal infections and pest infestations.
