Euphorbia 'Walberton's Embers Glow'

spurge

Product Image
A strong splash of warm colour makes this spurge an eye-catching presence from spring onwards, forming a neat, upright clump with well-branched stems and fresh green foliage. In mid to late spring, vivid flower bracts emerge in glowing shades of rusty orange with golden undertones, sitting cleanly above the leaves and providing valuable early-season interest.

The foliage remains attractive through summer and often takes on fiery autumn tones before fading, extending its seasonal appeal. Ideal for mixed borders, gravel gardens and large containers, it performs best in sun or light shade and well-drained soil, where its tidy habit and long-lived nature really come into their own.

Euphorbia ‘Walberton’s Embers Glow’ is a hardy, reliable semi-evergreen perennial that adds structure, colour and contrast with modest maintenance requirements.

How to care for Euphorbia Walberton's Embers Glow:

Plant in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, where it forms neat evergreen mounds topped with lime-green flower bracts in early spring. It’s slightly more compact and hardy than Euphorbia characias, coping better with partial shade and cooler or moister conditions.

Once established, it’s drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, needing only occasional watering during prolonged dry spells. After flowering, cut back spent stems to the base, but avoid removing fresh shoots that will produce next year’s display. Apply a light mulch in spring to conserve moisture and tidy older foliage as needed.
