In smaller gardens and growing spaces, every piece needs to be useful as well as attractive. Our Victorian growhouse makes a decorative and practical addition to the garden, helping protect and nurture seedlings, cuttings and smaller plants while they get established.

The snug-fitting lid creates warm, humid conditions to encourage healthy growth, and can be taken off or rotated for ventilation and watering. Inside, the removable metal base tray makes it simple to lift your plants out when needed.

Made from glass and mild steel with a dark chestnut powder coat, the finish brings a little depth to the garden and works well in a range of settings. Its rich, earthy tones sit nicely among planting and natural materials, looking just as good in a contemporary courtyard as it does against old brick, stone and established borders.

The colour shifts subtly with the changing light and the brass handle adds a lovely finishing touch that will age and tarnish naturally with time.

The lid, sides, tray and base are all separate components, so the growhouse can be stacked together or used in different combinations around the garden. Particularly useful as the seasons change, it can also be used as a simple cloche once plants are settled in.

Care and maintenance

Always place on flat, level ground. Handle glass panes with care and site well away from areas it may be knocked.

To protect the steel from rust or staining, clean it regularly with mild soap and a sponge or soft cloth to remove bird droppings, sap and dirt. If any scratches or chips occur, immediately seal them with touch-up paint to prevent water from reaching the bare metal (make sure the surface is clean and free from grease and dust before applying).

Any patches that show signs of rusting can be buffed back with steel wool or a wire brush and coated with a suitable sealant.
