Niwaki golden spade
Incredibly strong, lethally sharp, surprisingly light - and golden - this beautiful Niwaki digger has style (and substance) in spades.
With a comfy YD handle made from tubular steel, nice firm tread and rigid steel pipe shaft, you can trust it not to flex or break under heavy use.
It weighs in at just 1.75kg for the large, and under 1kg for the small, and boasts a supremely keen edge and pointed tip that help it punch well above its weight.
The larger is a great choice for general digging, tree planting, lifting rootballs, dividing perennials, etc. The smaller is best for smaller beds and borders and is a nice manageable size to help avoid fatigue. Please note: as the paint wears off, the steel will start to rust. Regular use is the best treatment! Clean off the blade after use, dry it well and wipe it over with camellia oil to keep it in good condition.
