Summer glory collection

summer glory collection

Product Image
Once a familiar sight in our cornfields and roadside verges, these annual wildflowers will help sustain bees and other pollinating insects - as well as create a visual feast in meadows and naturalised planting schemes in a smaller garden.

One packet containing 2 grams of seeds will cover approximately 2 sq m

The collection contains a blend of the following:
Corn Chamomile (Anthemis arvensis)
Corncockle (Agrostemma githago)
Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus)
Corn Marigold (Chrysanthemum seggetum)
Field Poppy (Papaver rhoeas)

How to care for Summer glory collection:

Keep the soil moist while the seeds are establishing, particularly during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging. Once growing, allow the plants to develop naturally and remove any unwanted weeds that compete for space.

Leave the faded flowers standing until the seed heads have dried and released their seeds, helping the display to self-seed and return in future years. Cut back the old growth once the seed has dispersed, then lightly disturb the soil the following spring if you wish to encourage further germination.

Sowing instructions:

Sow outdoors in March, April, May for flowers in the same year, or in August, September, October for an earlier display the following spring and summer.

Choose an open, sunny position and prepare the soil by removing weeds and creating a fine, firm seedbed. Wildflowers generally perform best in poor, low-nutrient soils, so avoid adding compost or fertiliser, as rich soil can encourage vigorous grasses and weeds at the expense of flowering.

Scatter the seeds thinly and evenly over the surface, gently rake them in to ensure good seed-to-soil contact, then firm the ground by lightly pressing or rolling the area.
