Indulge yourself in the beauty of this popular and award-winning tender perennial. Petunia 'Surfinia Deep Red' boasts a vigorous and slightly mounding growth habit with a trailing reach of up to 40cm (16in), making it ideal for hanging baskets, containers, and even seasonal ground cover.

This early-flowering gem can reach a height of 20-30cm (8-12in) and sports oval-shaped, sticky and hairy mid-green leaves. The real showstopper, however, is its rich red, velvety flowers, gramophone-trumpet-shaped and measuring around 5.5cm across. Perfect for warm, well-drained spots that bask in the sunlight.

How to care for Petunia Surfinia Deep Red ('Sunsurf Akatora') (PBR) (Surfinia Series):

Pot up seedlings and cuttings and grow them on under glass until the risk of frost has passed. Once conditions are warmer, they can be planted directly into well-prepared beds, or used to fill patio pots, window boxes, and hanging baskets for long-lasting seasonal colour. Larger 9cm bedding plants don’t usually need potting on but will benefit from initial frost protection in spring.

To keep bedding plants looking their best, and where applicable, pinch out the tips to promote bushier growth and water regularly, especially in containers where compost dries out quickly. Feed with a high-potash fertiliser every couple of weeks to encourage continuous flowering. Deadhead faded blooms, as required, to extend the display and keep plants tidy, ensuring vibrant summer flowers from planting time right through to the first frosts.
