This shrub is semi-evergreen, so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new foliage appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: poor or moderately fertile, moist, well drained neutral to slightly alkaline soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: May to September
  • Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection)

Over a long period throughout the summer, small spikes of soft lavender-pink flowers appear, gradually fading to white as they age. This creates a subtle, but colourful effect above the low mounds of lustrous green foliage.

  • Garden care: Needs minimal pruning. Remove misplaced or frost damaged branches in late spring. Protect from severe winter weather.
