Fiddle leaf fig thrives in bright, indirect light and will struggle in low light, often dropping leaves if moved too frequently or in too dark a location. Place it near a window with filtered sunlight and keep it away from draughts or heating vents. Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, ensuring good drainage, as it dislikes soggy roots.
Feed every 2-4 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser to encourage strong growth. It prefers stable temperatures between 16-24°C (60-75°F) and benefits from higher humidity, so misting or placing on a watered tray of pebbles is helpful, especially in centrally heated homes. Dust the large leaves regularly to keep them glossy and free of debris. Repot every 1-2 years in spring as it grows quickly when conditions are right.
