These summer-flowering wildflowers can be used in the border as an alternative to seasonal bedding, adding colour as well as helping to sustain the ecosystem. The collection contains a mix of charlock, cornflower, corn chamomile, corn marigold, field forget-me-not, field poppy and white campion.
One gram of seed is enough to cover approximately one square metre.
How to care for Cornfield seed collection:
Wildflowers prefer poor soils so avoid using fertilisers. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering, and in autumn, after the plants have spread their seed, cut them down to the ground before adding to the compost bin.
Sowing instructions:
Sow in situ from March onwards by preparing the soil surface well to form a fine tilth and then sow seeds, scattering them evenly before raking them in and firming down. Keep them well watered initially and remove any weeds if they appear. A later sowing from early autumn will over winter and flower earlier the following spring.
