Coprosma Northern Lights ('Copcon') (PBR)

coprosma

Product Image
The glossy, rippled leaves of this compact evergreen shrub bring a splash of transitional colour to pots and borders throughout the year. Coprosma ‘Northern Lights’ has a distinctive two-tone effect, with fresh green variegation in summer giving way to rich, glossy red shades as temperatures drop.

Its neat, bushy habit makes it a great choice for smaller gardens, balconies and sheltered spots not prone to severe or prolonged frost, where the foliage catches the light beautifully. Plant it in a mixed border, use it to create an informal screen or let it take centre stage in a larger patio pot for year-round interest.

How to care for Coprosma Northern Lights ('Copcon') (PBR):

Plant in a well-drained, sheltered, sunny spot protected from cold winds. Use a loam based potting compost if planting in pots, with plenty of drainage to avoid waterlogging.

In spring, lightly trim any branches that spoil the symmetry of the plant. Afterwards apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted leaf mould or composted pine needles around the base of the plant.

In colder regions, protect from hard frosts, or keep it in a pot and move it to a sheltered spot when the temperatures dip.
