John Innes no.2 is designed for plants that have outgrown seed compost but aren't yet fully established. It gives young plants the support they need to put on steady growth before they can be planted out in their final spot.
The loam-based mix has a slightly heavier feel than seed compost, helping anchor roots and regulate moisture, while added sand and grit keep it free draining.
It's also enriched with potassium humate and biochar, which supports root and shoot development while improving nutrient retention and water management. Use it for potting on seedlings, young plants and vegetables to help them establish before moving on.
Westland composts are produced using 100% renewable energy, and its production sites maintain a zero-waste-to-landfill policy.
