This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

Dark purple fern-like leaves show off the light violet-blue flowers in June/July. Prominent bright yellow anthers further add to its delightful charm. A Blooms Introduction. This delightful and colourful perennial is ideal for edging a partially shaded border, or for growing beside a woodland path. - Garden care: Cut the plant back straightaway after flowering to encourage a second flush of flowers. In autumn cut the faded flowerheads down to the ground and compost the dead stems.
