Lagurus ovatus
bunny tail or hare's tail grass
Soft, fur-like flowerheads, which are irresistible to the touch, make this gorgeous, tufted, annual grass ideal for sensory gardens. The flowerheads are fine additions to cut arrangements, and will dry well for longer-lasting appeal. Lagurus ovatus will also flourish in coastal settings.
Bunny tails grass can occasionally self-seed in free-draining soils and mild areas, so you may find new plants appearing the following year, but the original plant does not reliably overwinter. For a consistent display, it is best treated as an annual and resown or replanted each spring.
