A close relative of the edible carrot, this wild version is sought after for its flattened clusters of tiny white flowers, which top upright stems for most of the summer and early autumn. An easy and undemanding plant, it looks great in mixed borders or more naturalised planting schemes, and the flowers will help attract pollinators.

  • Growing Instructions: Sow the seeds thinly into a well prepared bed directly where you want them to grow, and cover lightly with soil. Early sowings can be covered with cloches and germination should take between 10 and 20 days. When large enough to handle, thin the seedlings carefully to 10cm apart, watering beforehand to avoid disturbing nearby roots.

  • Sow: August to October or February to April

  • Approximate quantity: 200 seeds
