Masses of bright yellow tubular flowers bloom along the top of the strongly arching spikes in late summer to early autumn. This is a vigorous plant with blade-like, pleated, mid-green leaves. It is perfect for planting in big, bold swathes through ‘hot’ themed borders, and its upright habit and long season flowers make it an ideal partner for many flowering grasses. The stems are also excellent for cutting.
How to care for Crocosmia Paul's Best Yellow:
Plant with a scoop of well-rotted compost or manure in the planting hole. Keep the soil moist during the dry season as a lack of water reduces flowering. Resist removing the faded foliage in autumn and cover the crown of the plant with bracken or bark chips to protect the plant against frost damage. Lift and divide congested colonies in spring, planting the divided sections 8-10cm (3-4in) deep.
