Allium hollandicum (aflatunense)
allium bulbs (syn. Allium aflatunense)
- Position: full sun
- Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: June
- Hardiness: fully hardy
- Bulb size:10/12
This allium looks spectacular when grouped in a pot, or planted in a sunny border where they can be dotted in groups among ornamental grasses and other early summer flowers. Try to sandwich them between other herbaceous perennials, which will help to mask the strap-like leaves, as these tend to fade by the time the flowers appear. - Garden care: Plant bulbs 15cm deep and 15cm apart to enjoy the full effect of the flowers. Avoid excessive soil moisture, and split and divide large clumps in autumn or spring.
- Pets: TOXIC if eaten; Humans: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
