Terracotta pot - sandblasted
A stout, rolled rim cylinder in a classic design with a sandblasted terracotta finish. Rustic and characterful, these planters bring instant impact. They come in three sizes, so whether you want to grow flowers, foliage plants, shrubs or small trees, there’s a pot to match your ambitions.
These work really well with small shrubs like acers. We love the combination of their natural character with a beautiful flowering cornus too. As they're fired and sandblasted by hand, no two pots will be the same. They could be a mix of any of the shades between the muted terracotta and the dusky grey tones shown in the images.
The pots are hand-moulded in Vietnam from blended clay and high-fired in traditional kilns to make them both UV and frost resistant. As with all clay planters, a few simple measures will keep them in great condition for years to come.
Care and maintenance
Raise the pot off the ground with pot feet, making sure the drainage hole is clear so it can drain freely. Arranging a few crocks in the bottom of the pot before adding your soil will help stop the hole from clogging.
Protect the pot from frost damage over winter by sealing it with wax, wrapping it in bubble wrap, fleece or newspaper, moving it to an unheated shed or greenhouse, or placing it in a sheltered spot.
If using for perennial plants, repot them when they outgrow the pot to stop roots from cracking the base. To know when it’s time to repot, check underneath the pot for roots starting to emerge from the drainage hole.
Please note: due to the nature of the finishing process, the final colour will vary from pot to pot.
