Gradually forming a low, cushion-like dome of rich green foliage, this compact conifer is deservedly popular. It's ideal for adding year-round colour and structure to rockeries or gravel gardens, and it can also be used in pots or woven through border edges.

Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
