Persian wallflower collection

wallflower collection

Product Image
Wallflowers are really popular plants for the spring garden because they are incredibly floriferous and put on a dazzling show. As they are biennials, they should be planted in autumn so they can get settled in during the winter and do their best the following spring. They are often used in bedding displays and will make wonderful partners for tulips and other spring-flowering bulbs.

Please note: These wallflowers have recently been lifted from the ground and are supplied as ’bare-root’ (i.e. not pot-grown) plants. They may look a little flaccid after their travel to you, however our field grown plants are very tough. They should be planted out as soon as possible, and they’ll usually pick up once they’ve settled in.

How to care for Persian wallflower collection:

Provide cloche protection where frosts are very severe or prolonged. Wallflowers like good drainage, so take care not to over-water. When in flower, regular deadheading will prolong the display even further.

What's included:

In each collection you will receive 10 bare root plants of each of the following:

  • 'Primrose Dame' Opening soft lemon before quickly turning a pale buttery shade, the flowers of this wallflower provide a soothing backdrop for strong purples and plums, as well as strengthening predominantly white and creamy bedding displays. A firm favourite in the spring garden, they are very easy to grow and the flowers also have a spicy scent. grows to 45cm.

  • 'Purple Shades' Impressive plants for the spring garden, wallflowers produce an abundance of flowers - this one in a most spectacular shade of red. For a wow-factor colour scheme, team it with rich purples and near-black tulips, or if you like acid brights, lime greens and oranges. You will want to plant more than you need, as they make excellent cut flowers and they have a wonderful clove-like perfume. Grows to 45cm.

  • 'Fire King' These dazzling orange-red wallflowers will provide a stunning display in early spring. Wallflowers perform best in full sun where their bright, fragrant flowers will shine.
