Begonia 'Silver Cloud'
begonia Silver Cloud
- Position: Light shade
- Soil: Well-drained potting compost
- Rate of growth: Average
- Hardiness: Frost tender (indoors only)
- Home care:Rex begonias require special care during the summer months. It's best to keep them in shaded areas and provide ample watering, ensuring proper drainage and maintaining a humid atmosphere around the plants. Avoid wetting the leaves or the crown.
As winter approaches, reduce the frequency of watering. Allow the compost surface to dry out before watering again. These begonias thrive with a minimum winter temperature of 13°C (55°F) across all varieties.
For optimal growth, feed them every two weeks from May to September using a high nitrogen fertiliser.
'Silver Cloud' is a delightful rex-type cultivar with rounded pistachio green leaves adorned by a mass of silver spots, creating a captivating display between the veins. Notably, the silvering becomes more pronounced in reduced light levels, adding to its allure. Periodically throughout the year, 'Silver Cloud' graces us with long-lasting, pendent, light peachy-coloured flowers. Thriving best in filtered light, this plant can also withstand some sun exposure during winter, making it a versatile and stunning choice for any indoor space.
