Exara terracotta pot & Fatsia japonica Spider's Web
- Position: partial shade
- Soil: moist, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: September to October
- Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection)
The handsome foliage of Fatsia japonica 'Tsumugi-shibori' looks as though it has been dusted with icing sugar - with some leaves having a more generous coating than others!
We've paired it up here with our frost-proof Exara terracotta pot (Ø45cm x H40cm), hand thrown in Crete. A perfect way to add a sunny Mediterranean flavour to the patio, or add light and colour to areas of lightly dappled shade.

Fatsia grows best in partial to full shade, and is ideally placed in sheltered spots where its foliage won’t be damaged by cold, drying winds. Keep the plant looking its best by pruning lightly in mid to late spring, trimming back shoots that disrupt its natural symmetry.
It generally needs little maintenance, but removing any damaged or untidy growth will encourage fresh leaves and maintain its shape.
