A vibrant, hardy annual, pot marigold variety producing enormous, double orange flowers between May and September. Easy to grow from seed in situ, perfect as cut flowers, 'Orange King' will help keep away many insect pests when used as a companion plant. The petals are edible and can be dried and used as a substitute for saffron for colouring.
Dead-head regularly throughout the summer. Keep well watered and apply a liquid feed every fortnight to promote healthy growth.
In autumn or spring, either sow in situ into well-raked soil, or in a seed-tray or pot. Cover the seed with 1cm of soil or compost and thin out as the seedlings appear allowing 30cm between each plant.
