Calendula officinalis 'Fiesta Orange'
pot marigold
- Position: full sun
- Soil: moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil, or general-purpose compost for containers
- Rate of growth: fast
- Flowering period: June to October
- Hardiness: fully hardy
A bright and bonny ‘pot’ marigold with plentiful semi-double flowers in burnished orange, ready for adding edible garnishes and colour to salads and soups. Mostly commonly grown as a bee-buzzing summer annual, ‘Fiesta Orange' can keep the summer party going under glass or on a sunny windowsill where it makes an attractive houseplant until the end of the year.
Keep well watered and feed with a high potash fertiliser (such as Tomorite) at regular intervals throughout the growing season. Regular deadheading of the flowers will ensure even more appear until the first frosts.
