Carex comans 'Frosted Curls'
densely turfed grass
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: June to July
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Forming a dense tussock of slender, silvery green leaves, which become curled towards their tips, this undemanding evergreen will tolerate most conditions. It's primarily grown for its foliage, which offers year-round interest, but it will also produce tiny, green flower spikes in summer. It's perfect for adding interest to winter pots, or for low-maintenance ground cover at the front of the border. - Garden care: Comb through the plant in winter to remove dead foliage. Feed with a general purpose fertiliser during the growing season and if necessary, lift and divide over-large clumps in early spring.
