Salix integra 'Flamingo' (PBR)
flamingo willow
This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.
- Position: full sun
- Soil: any deep, moist but well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Hardiness: fully hardy
This popular ornamental willow is a real eye-catcher! The young stems and new foliage of this deciduous shrub, emerges in a pink and white flush, while the older foliage tends to be predominantly green, but with a few splashes of white. Because it's so showy, 'Flamingo' makes a stunning focal point or specimen plant, and it will also be quite happy in a larger pot if kept well watered. - Garden care: Prune back hard in winter. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter and shorten any over-long shoots. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted compost in the planting hole.
