Cupressus macrocarpa 'Wilma'
Monterey cypress
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: moist, well-drained neutral to slightly acid soil
- Rate of growth: slow-growing
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Luminous golden green foliage, which has a fresh citrus scent when bruised, forms in a soft cone shape. A slow-growing conifer, it is excellent for pots, and will also make a handsome stand-alone specimen. Alternatively, it can be used for hedging, and once well established, it becomes tolerant of dryer conditions. - Garden care: Provide some shelter from cold, drying winds, and trim plants grown as hedges in late spring, taking care not to cut into old wood.
