The plants in this collection will die right back in autumn, then fresh new growth will appear again in spring.

Get these established in your borders and you may never need to weed again! You could also enjoy colour from May to September.

In this collection you will receive one of each of the following plants. They are all supplied in 9cm nursery pots:

    • Campanula portenschlagiana: Spreading mounds of deep purple, funnel-shaped flowers appear in July and August with heart-shaped to kidney-shaped, mid-green leaves that are retained all year. These low-growing Dalmatian bellflowers look wonderful cascading over a sunny, well-drained rock garden or raised bed, used as edging or tucked in between paving stones or a dry-stone wall. This campanula is very vigorous, so it's best planted away from smaller, less competitive plants. Grows to 15cm.

    • Nepeta × faassenii JUNIOR WALKER ('Novanepjun') (PBR): When in bloom throughout the summer, the flowers of this new, sterile catmint will be buzzing with bees. A compact grower, with aromatic foliage (that cats will love), it will look great lining the edges of a path where you can enjoy the scent each time you brush past. It will also work really well in a pot. Grows to 40cm.

    • Alchemilla mollis: No garden should be without this beautiful and useful perennial. It has scalloped, bright green leaves which catch droplets of water that look like quicksilver and from June to September, it produces a frothy haze of tiny, chartreuse yellow flowers. It’s ideal planted en-masse for groundcover or edging paths, it tolerates a range of adverse conditions including heavy clay and, once established, is drought tolerant. Alchemilla mollis takes its name from the Arabic, meaning little magical one, as in the Middle Ages the water collected from its leaves after a morning dew was said to have healing properties. Grows to 60cm.

    • Geranium sanguineum: In May through to June, this geranium is smothered with cheerful, cup-shaped magenta flowers with white centres and distinctive veins. Thriving in full sun or partial shade, it forms low hummocks of deeply cut, shiny, dark green leaves, ideal for suppressing weeds at the front of the border. It occurs naturally on acid soils, but will flourish in most fertile, well drained conditions. Grows to 30cm.

  • Planting tips:
Prepare the bed well by digging in lots of composted organic matter before you plant. For best results it is essential that the plants are kept well watered for the first year, particularly during warmer weather.
