Known colloquially as ‘Four O’ Clocks’, Mirabilis longifolia enchants with its perennial charm, thriving as a shrub-like, tuberous plant often treasured as an annual, presenting clusters of exquisite raspberry-centred white flowers emitting a sweet evening fragrance from afternoon to morning. These blossoms, attracting night insects and hummingbird moths, bloom abundantly over an extended period, making them an ideal choice for pathways or patio edges, allowing the night-blooming flowers and their fragrance to be savoured.

Garden care:
Grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed when they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed or large pot. Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier growth, and feed at regular intervals throughout summer with a high-potash fertiliser. Taller plants may need supporting with brushwood stems in exposed positions.
  • Humans: Harmful if eaten
