A narrowly columnar evergreen conifer with tight, dark green foliage, less vigorous and more delicate than the traditional Italian Cypress. ‘Totem Pole’ is hardy but prefers a sheltered location out of drying winds where its slender, towering spires will grace a contemporary or Mediterranean-themed garden, or along paths and driveways, or when combined with other ‘geometrically shaped’ garden features such as square patios and circular fountains. Bright green foliage gives rise to small spherical, brown cones.
Garden care: Remove any competing leaders that appear in spring, cutting out the weaker or crooked shoot cleanly at the base. Protect from cool, drying winds. Tolerates dry conditions once established.
