This fabulous seed collection is a wildlife lover’s dream! Packaged in a beautiful illustrated gift box, it contains 6 separate boxes of seed bombs to help you attract a cornucopia of creatures to the garden. The seed is best scattered in Spring or Autumn and one box is sufficient for 1 or 2 pots. Alternatively, use 6 boxes per square metre in the garden. Each box measures 6cm x 4cm x 1.5cm, and the individual seedballs Ø1cm.

What is a Seedball? A ball made from seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder.

Why use Seedballs? The ball prevents the seeds from being a tasty lunch for birds and insects, thereby increasing the chances of your flowers growing. Plus they’re super easy to use, no digging and no expert knowledge needed!

How do I use Seedballs? Throw onto soil or compost in a garden bed or planter in Spring or Autumn, leaving at least 10cm between each ball. Your Seedball has everything it needs to grow and, once the ball becomes moist and the temperature is right, your seeds will germinate!

What area will my Seedballs cover? We would usually advise 20 seed balls per square metre, or 3-5 seed balls for a 35cm container.

All seed is responsibly sourced in the UK from Flora Locale accredited suppliers.

Each individual box is made from recycled card and includes 6 seed bombs packed with a carefully selected mix of seeds, as follows:

  • 1 x Bee box: A mix of native wildflowers that bees will love. Designed specifically to attract solitary bees, honey bees and bumblebees, it includes birdsfoot trefoil, foxglove, red clover, viper’s bugloss and wild marjoram.

  • 1 x Butterfly box: This pretty collection of mostly purple, pink and blue flowers is designed to bring butterflies to our gardens, balconies and window boxes and uses only flowers recommended by Butterfly Conservation. Includes purple loosestife, forget-me-not, musk mallow, red campion and yarrow.

  • 1 x Hedgehog box: A wildflower patch is an important addition to a hedgehog-friendly garden, not only in providing shelter but to attract a range of tasty insects for hedgehogs to feed on. This mix includes yellow rattle, wild carrot, birdsfoot trefoil, tufted vetch, selfheal and poppy.

  • 1 x Bird box: This selection will boost the food supply for a wide range of birds including goldfinches, blue tits, chaffinches, greenfinches, robins and starlings. Whilst in bloom the flowers will attract insects that many birds feed on, while birds will also feed directly on the plants and seeds themselves. Includes corn marigold, poppy, greater knapweed, sheep sorrel, tufted vetch, and wild carrot.

  • 1 x Beetle box: The ideal mix to attract ladybirds and pollinating beetles, who are a vital part of our garden ecosystems. The mix includes common knapweed, cornflower, cow parsley, field scabious, foxglove, great burnet and yarrow.

  • 1 x Bat box: Contains a mix of wildflowers to attract a diversity of moths and other insects bats feed on, including flowers that release their fragrance in the evening when bats are most active. The mix also has plants with a combination of long and short pollen tubes and a range of flower colours and shapes to maximise the number of insects that they attract. Includes borage, cornflower, corn marigold, evening primrose, night-scented stock and wallflower.

Each box also includes a little card insert to explain what the balls are and how to use them. Incredibly easy to use - simply scatter on top of soil or compost (no digging or expertise required) and nature will take care of the rest!
