This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: any well-drained soil, except shallow chalk
  • Rate of growth: fast
  • Flowering period: August to September
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Light, feathery plumes of tiny, rich pink flowers on arching branches in late summer and early autumn and slender, light green leaves. This vigorous shrub or small tree is ideal for creating a colourful splash in a sunny border. It's a valuable windbreak in warm, coastal areas, thriving in any well-drained soil, except shallow chalk.

  • Garden care: For use as a windbreak or hedging in warm, coastal areas plant in a single line with one metre between each plant. To prevent the plant from becoming top heavy cut back the flowering stems in early spring.
