Hyacinths are loved, not just for their showy blooms, which look equally good in bedding schemes or vases, but for their deliciously strong scent. Therefore, try to plant them somewhere that you can take full advantage of it.

Each collection contains 5 bulbs of each of the following:

  • Hyacinthus orientalis 'Blue Pearl': Tightly packed flowerheads of scented, bell-shaped blooms appear in March and April above the glossy, strap-like, dark green leaves. These beautiful hyacinths make a fabulously fragrant patio display with spring-flowering pansies and bulbs. Alternatively plant them into your borders to create a colourful spring bedding display.
  • Hyacinthus orientalis 'Fondant': Fondant has a flowerspike which is crowded with flaring, bell-shaped flowers that have a deliciously sweet scent. The petals are a soft shade of apple blossom pink, becoming paler.
  • Hyacinthus orientalis 'Purple Sensation': Relatively large and with a delicious perfume, the purple trumpet-shaped flowers of this cottage garden favourite will add colour and fragrance to the spring garden. Ideal for bedding displays as well as growing in pots, the flowers are also popular for cutting.

  • Garden care: Using gloves plant bulbs 10-15cm (4-6in) deep and 15cm (6in) apart in early or mid-autumn.
    • Harmful if eaten/skin irritant
