In its native environment, this plant would typically grow as a climber, but if its stems are unsupported, it makes a handsome trailer that will cascade over the edges of a pot. The arrow-shaped leaves of this unusual house plant are a deep greyish green, but each one is attractively patterned with a network of silvery veins - and the undersides have a burgundy flush.

  • Home care: Originating from tropical regions, they like relatively stable temperatures (ideally above 15°C) and a well-lit position that does not get direct sunlight (think steamy jungle!). Water regularly in the growing season, making sure the compost gets dry to the touch before repeating the process, and cut back a little in winter. Often referred to as the sugar grape, they can produce tiny beads of an (inedible) sugary substance on the foliage. This is completely harmless and can either be brushed or washed off.

Please note: all our indoor hanging pots include drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. We recommend taking them down to water in the sinkor on a saucer, and leaving them to drain before rehanging.
  • Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten; skin irritant
