This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moist but well-drained
  • Rate of growth: fast
  • Flowering period: June to September
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

A robust and resilient deciduous shrub with a columnar growth habit, ‘Flower Tower Ruby’ has beautiful dark pink-red, semi-double flowers with red hearts, blooms continuously from late July to September and is attractive to bees and butterflies. Once established, this hibiscus responds well to high temperatures, although will still require regular watering throughout the summer.

  • Garden care: When planting this hibiscus incorporate some well-rotted compost or manure and mycorrhizal fungi into the planting hole. Little or no pruning is required until the desired height is reached. In colder areas, shrubs might need a winter mulch.
